Three-time US cyclocross champion Clara Honsinger (Workforce S&M CX) gained the C1 elite ladies’s race at Kings CX on Saturday. She outsprinted Isabella Holmgren (Stimulus Orbea) on the uphill end to the road.
Lizzy Gunsalus (Marian College) took a solo third, 1:43 behind the main duo. Ava Holmgren, the reigning junior Pan-Am champion, completed one other 18 seconds again in fourth.
It was the primary victory of the 2023-2024 season for Honsinger. The US champion was the highest North American finally week’s C2 Trek CX Cup, ending fourth, and was 2:25 sooner than the reigning junior World Champion on a muddy course.
Mild rain showers made the off-camber grass sections rather more technical on the circuit at Kingswood Park, which hosted the 14th annual Cincinnati Cyclocross Competition in Mason, Ohio for a weekend of UCI contests. The C2 race can be held Sunday afternoon.
